THE
SEA AND THE BEACHES: the sea at San Vincenzo
is crystal-clear and bordered by dense pinewoods and thick
Mediterranean scrub. The splendid beach, with its
fine, gold sand, stretches for many kilometres, alternating
fully-equipped bathing establishments with public beaches.
Beach umbrellas and sun-beds can be hired at the nearest
"Punto Azzurro".
The limpid air and light sea breezes make aquatic sports
even more enjoyable. Once a busy port of call for trade,
the spacious, well-equipped harbour of San Vincenzo
now has moorings for hundreds of leisure craft.
THE RIMIGLIANO NATURE RESERVE:
the Rimigliano Nature Reserve, with its intact,
protected environment, is an inviting oasis of
flora and fauna situated right next to the sea
an ideal place for peaceful walks.
SAN CARLO AND ITS NATURE TRAILS:
the history of San Carlo goes back to Palaeolithic
times.
One of San Carlos main attractions are the Pot
Holes, natural caves and pools formed during the Mesozoic
period, from which minerals were extracted in the past. Excursions of varying lengths and degrees of difficulty
can be taken from San Carlo along the panoramic hill
trails.
FOOD AND WINES: fine,
white fish, oily fish, shellfish and seafood caught fresh
daily are the basic ingredients for the delicious dishes
that have made San Vincenzo famous.
Restaurants such as "Gambero Rosso" draw
gourmets from all over the world.
The fresh, flavourful dishes they offer are usually based
on fish, often with the inclusion of other local
products, dressed with excellent olive oil and accompanied
by the fine wines produced in the area.
The wine route, where besides others the excellent
wines of the DOC Val di Cornia are produced, passes
nearby.
